LEET: An Overview
Haryana Lateral Entry Entrance Test or LEET is conducted to offer admission to candidates into 2nd year or 3rd semester of B.Tech/B.E. in several government and private Engineering colleges of Haryana. The exam is conducted by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES). It is a state-level entrance test, conducted online. As the exam enables students to change their streams, the exam pattern is common for candidates from every engineering stream.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should possess a 3 year Diploma in Technology/Engineering from Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE) or an equivalent board. Minimum aggregate score: 45% for General candidates; 42.75% for SC candidates
- B.Sc. from a recognized university. Minimum aggregate score: 45% for General; 42.75% for SC candidates
- HSTES considers Kashmiri migrants as a special category. They must provide an attested copy of their migration document
- Candidates with family income less than 6 lakhs must provide the relevant income certificate to claim reservation under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme.

- Haryana LEET consists of 4 sections:
- Basic Sciences
- Mechanical Stream Courses
- Electronic Stream Courses
- Other Engineering Courses
- Total number of questions: 90
- Question Type: Objective
- Time duration: 90 minutes
- Language of questions: English
- Marking Scheme: +1 for each correct answer; No negative marking
- After this Computer Based Test (CBT), 2 counseling sessions are held for all seats of government/government aided University departments and 75% seats of self-financed institutes.
