Staff Selection Commission General Duty (GD) constable recruitment exam comprises of four stages:

SSC GD PET
- It is conducted by PET Boards, which are constituted by Central Armed Police Force (CAPF)
- PET measures the height of candidates; Candidates with the required height will be eligible for the race.
- Eligibility Criteria for this test:
- Male candidates: 5 Km race in 24 minutes
- Female candidates: 800 m race in 4 minutes
- Eligibility Criteria for Applicants of Ladakh
- Male: 1 mile race in 6.5 minutes
- Female: 800 meters in 4 minutes
SSC GD PST
- It is a biometric/technology-aided identification test aimed at measuring the height, weight, and chest of the candidates.
SSC GD DME
- Eyesight and Medical Fitness of candidates is checked by the Medical Boards constituted by CAPFs.
- Better eye: N6; Worse eye: N9
