Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts) (SSC JE) exam is conducted every year to recruit JEs for various Departments and Organizations of the Central Government of India. 

SSC JE Posts

  • SSC conducts JE examination to select eligible civil, mechanical, or electrical Junior engineers for the following organizations:
  1. Central Water Commission
  2. Central Public Works Department (CPWD)
  3. Military Engineer Services (MES)
  4. Border Road Organization
  5. Central Water and Power Research Station
  6. Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval)
  7. National Technical Research Organization (NTRO) 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  2. Age Limit: 18–32 years. Age limit varies from post to post.
  3. Educational Qualifications: Applicant must have passed the Matriculation exam or an equivalent exam conducted by a recognized Board. 

Exam Pattern

SSC JE exam is divided into phases– Part I and Part II. 

Part I:

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Question Type: Objective 

Part II

  • Offline Test
  • Question type: Descriptive

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
  2. General Awareness
  3. Part A— General Engineering (Civil and Structural); or

Part B— General Engineering (Electrical); or

Part C— General Engineering (Mechanical)

Part II

  1. Part A— General Engineering (Civil and Structural); or

Part B— General Engineering (Electrical); or

Part C— General Engineering (Mechanical)
