It gives us great pleasure in presenting APC Mentor in English Core for students of Class XII. The present edition of the book has been throughly revised as per the latest CBSE curriculum with the prescribed changes in the course structure. The main objective of the book is to provide students with a step-by-step module to prepare well for the examinations. It is sincere attempt to enhance the language skills of the students through all the sections-Reading Comprehension, Writing Skills and Literature Textbooks. Section A: Reading Comprehension contains 29 unseen passages (Factual/Descriptive/Literary) for reading comprehension along with 26 passages for note-making and abstraction. Detailed guidelines and useful tips have been given to enable students to attempt these questions. These questions have been carefully chosen keeping the examination pattern in mind and are useful for comprehensive learning evaluation. Section B: Writing Skills contains (i) Short Compositions, e.g. Advertisements, Notices, Posters, Formal and Informal Invitations and Replies (ii) Formal Letters, e.g. Business/Official Letters, Letters to the Editor/Various Authorities, Job Application Letters (along with Bio Data), Letters based on Visual Input, and (iii) Long Compositions, e.g. Articles, Debates, Speeches and Reports based on visual/verbal inputs. Writing these compositions require different inputs, hence, detailed guidelines and tips have been provided at the start of each writing skill. These will help students practice and easily answer the questions in the examination. This section also includes a large number of solved questions for each writing skill. Section C: Literature Textbooks contains the summary of each chapter from the textbook 'Flamingo' and the supplementary reader 'Vistas'. This section is a comptehensive question bank that includes questions from the text, previous years CBSE questions as well as additional short and long answer questions. Poetic devices in the poems from Flamingo have also been incorporated. All the sections in this book contain questions from the latest CBSE question papers along with their model answer. It will certainly prove to be a reliable tool for marked success in the CBSE Class XII Examination.
