Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), an all-boys school, is the first military school of India where exams for Class X and Class XII are conducted twice a year, once in May and then in November. These exams are recognized by CBSE. This military school only offers education in Science Stream at the Class XII level. However, the College offers Social Science for Cadets aspiring for National Defence Academy (NDA). Every activity in this school is objective-based and precisely timed to provide holistic development and shape future leaders. RIMC admits approximately 25 cadets every 6 months through an entrance exam. Admissions are only made to Class VIII. Applicants should not be less than 11.5 years but they must not have reached 13 years on 1st of January or 1st of July of the term they plan to join. The application form and prospectus and a booklet of old question papers can be procured from the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Uttarakhand Pin Code 24800 by forwarding an account payee bank DD and self-addressed slip. Candidates need to submit their forms to their respective State Governments. Exam Pattern
1) The exam is conducted in two parts— Written Examination; Viva Voce
2) Written Examination: It consists of three subjects: i) Mathematics (200 marks) ii) English (125 marks) iii) General Knowledge (75 marks) • General Knowledge and Mathematics papers may be answered in either English or Hindi. • Qualifying marks: 50% on each paper 3) Viva Voce: The oral exam is of 50 marks; Minimum passing marks: 50%; This test assesses the personality, confidence, and intelligence of the candidates 4) Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying for the interview round have to undergo a medical examination at Military Hospital. After the test, RIMC only selects the medically fit candidates. A medical examination is only a part of the selection system and does not guarantee the final selection.
