Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination (SSC CGL) is conducted in four stages: Tier I, II, III, and IV

SSC CGL Tier I Syllabus

  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
  2. Symbolic/Number Analogy
  3. Number/Symbolic Classification and Semantic Classification
  4. Number Series, Semantic Series, Figural Series, and Figural Classification
  5. Coding and Decoding, Problem Solving, and Word Building
  6. Indexing, Classification of Codes or Roll numbers, Date, Address and City Matching
  7. Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, and Critical Thinking
  8. General Awareness
  9. General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  10. Physics: Laws and Major inventions and discoveries
  11. Chemistry: Characteristics of molecules, atoms, and gases and chemistry in everyday life.
  12. Biology: Prominent discoveries, Nutrition in plants and animals, Diseases and their causes, and Facts about human body parts.
  13. History: Harappan civilization, Vedic culture, Medieval India, and Freedom of India and freedom fighters.
  14. Polity: Executive, Legislative and Judiciary; Important constitutional bodies; Symbols of political parties; Duties and responsibilities of Parliamentarians.
  15.  Geography: Countries and their physical and political geography; Famous Airports, Seaports, and their geographical locations.
  16. Economy: Budget–terminologies and fundamentals; Officials involved in the economy of India and Monetary Institutions.
  17. Quantitative Aptitude
  18. Number System, Averages, Percentage, Square Roots, Ratio and Proportion, and Simple and Compound Interest.
  19. Profit, Loss, and Discount, and Mixture.
  20. Time and Distance, Time and Work, Graphs of Linear Equations, and Basic algebraic identities of Elementary surds and School algebra.
  21. Circles, Triangles and its various types, and Congruence and Similarity of Triangles.
  22. Spheres and Hemispheres; Regular Polygons; Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with square or triangular base; Right Circular Cylinder, Right Circular Cone, and Right Prism.

SSC CGL Tier III Syllabus

  • Only for candidates appearing for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post
  • Candidates must have cleared Tier I 
  • This exam aims to evaluate the language proficiency, vocabulary usage, grammar knowledge, and writing skills in English or Hindi.
  • Candidates need to select their language while filling their forms.

SSC CGL Tier IV Syllabus

  1. Data Entry Speed Test 
  • Candidate must have cleared Tier I exam
  • For Tax Assistants (Central and Excise)
  1.  8,000 key depression per hour on the Computer
  2. A passage of approximately 2000 key depressions for 15 minutes
  3. Computer Proficiency Test 
  • For:
  1. Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service (CSS), 
  2. Assistant Section Officer (MEA), 
  3. Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs 
  4. Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines.
  5. Spreadsheet
  6. Word Processing
  7. Generation of slides
