In the early 1990s, after I completed my M.Ed. from Lucknow University, I had been teaching in the field of Education. My HOD, Dr. Devika Rani Tiwari guided me to pursue Ph.D. to hone my teaching skills. Those days I used to carry my lecture notes either photocopied or manuscript. Nearly a decade after that first effort, I started creating writing tips and sending them out via E-mail, primarily as a service to colleagues who wanted to continue honing their writing skills after they had participated in one of the lectures. After many years of teaching at the college and school level, I had a pretty good idea about the subject matter and issues that trouble writers most frequently. The topics covered in this book, I hope, would clarify some of the confusion. Many people experience as they take the classes as per new syllabus of NCTE. The initial and primary reason to write this book is that our students asked for it. Like us, many of them still enjoy the printed text book, something they can hold, throw in a briefcase, keep on their desks, lend to a friend, or give as a gift. Web resources are handy, but they are not good for reading in bed, in a long line, in a hammock, or at the beach. Second, like most writers, we were not content to leave well enough alone. We knew that we could strengthen the topics by revising them, and publishing them together as a book gave us a good reason to do so. We have collected topics which are diverse at one place, given explanations, added examples and made it alive with references. The book deals with a wide spectrum of topics arranged into sixteen chapters, which deal topics as diverse as constitutional framework, economic development, philosophical premises and historical perspectives.The book covers syllabi of most of the universities following NCTE guidelines and precisely the following universities:
