The present volume is developed out of proceedings of a winter school (December 1987) and a workshop (December 1988) at the I.I.T., Delhi. The selection of articles has been on our personal perception about interdisciplinary nature of the articles and fields which shall be specifically useful to chemical and biological scientists. The book contains fourteen chapters each written by an invited expert engaged in studying some or other aspect of laser applications, like medical sciences, clinical applications, chemical reaction dynamics, surface enhanced Raman scattering, crystal growth, sperm physiology etc.
