About Product
Quality Assurance is a world-wide issue. Its importance is continuously increasing in today highly competitive markets in which customers are demanding high quality products at lower prices. Small and medium-sized industries form a good proportion of the Industries in the developed countries. However, in the developing countries including the Arab World, such industries form an even higher proportion of all industries and are more widely spread. These industries are generally characterized by a relatively small number of employees and limited total assets. Organisations with such size may not have the proper facilities and resources to carry out Quality Assurance functions. Additionally, they may not have the right knowledge and experience in the field of Quality Assurance and are not fully aware of its advantages.Furthermore, such organisations are usually inspection-oriented, i.e., the quality strategy is based on the detection rather than on the prevention of quality problems. Finally, the majority of small and medium-sized industries operate on the job shop basis. This involves producing a high variety of products in small batches. This seminar discussed up-to-date ways and methods of improving quality in small and medium-sized industries and analysed the possible outcome arising from implementing Quality Assurance programmes.
