About Product
Many modern textbooks on chemistry devote a definite but compact chapter on Symmetry with little or no emphasis on Structure of Molecules. This leaves some gaps for thorough understanding of the concepts of symmetry both from the view point of students and teachers. In this context the book is designed with an exclusive coverage to help the students to prepare for a semester course at both UG and PG level of any national and international universities. Also, the teachers would find a classroom friendly narration of all the topics presented in the book.An exclusive excursion–like treatment is given for the concepts of structure, symmetry and orbitals (atomic, hybrid and molecular) with a semi-pedagogical coverage. The main strength of the book lies in illustrations with a large variety of molecular examples. The primary focus of the book is on ‘root–learning’ than on ‘rote–learning’, paving the way for strong foundations. Secondly, the treatment given in the book helps in learning the correct concept by both the teacher and the taught. The method of presentation chosen for the book is the one that is well tested in the classroom for few decades. The book attempts a systematic approach in mastering the subject layer by layer and a smooth transition is maintained throughout from chapter to chapter for a successful take off. ‘Self–Study Exercises’ are designed for compelling the reader to re–visit each page of the book. Appendices are given to provide an essential supplement. To test the summary learning of the reader some ‘Crossword Puzzles’ are also designed.
