Lala Hardayal, the great revolutionary and the founder of the Ghadar party, was born on 14th October 1884 in a lower middle class Kayastha family. His father, Gauridayal Mathur was a reader in the district Court of Delhi. He had a good knowledge of Urdu and Persian. His mother, Bhori was a simple housewife of religious nature. When Hardayal was four years old, he was admitted to the primary school of Cambridge mission. He began taking interest in his studies. He had an extraordinary memory and stood first in each class.
